Too Good To Refuse Up to 2016 Randwick Guineas Class

February 4th, 2016

Trainer Desleigh Forster remains bullish of the quality of three-year-old Too Good To Refuse and is confident the colt will live up to the hype in his return to Sydney for the 2016 Randwick Guineas (1600m) in early March this year.

Too Good To Refuse returned to racing last spring in good and competitive form; booking a trip south off the back of a credible third in the Brandons Handicap (1640m) and consecutive wins in each of the Barry Nilsson Lawyers Handicap (1350m) and Brisbane Marriott Hotel Handicap (1640m) before running a credible fifth in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on October 10th.

Forster underlined a return to Sydney for the 2016 Randwick Guineas almost as soon as the Rothesay colt returned to Brisbane last time, and is confident he will more than live up to his potential this time.

“I think this horse is a freak,” Forster told The Courier Mail.

“In his run at Doomben he was giving them 10 lengths starts, at least, and the best bit of his work was late when he finished really well.

“He had a wide barrier and carried a big weight at Doomben but he will be much better off getting back to set weights.

“He is just crying out for distances between 1400m and 1600m. Hopefully he can draw a good barrier in those Sydney races so he won’t have to go back so far.”

South African expat Robbie Fradd has ridden the colt in all but two of his ten career starts so far and Forster confirmed the hoop will continue his affiliation with the team through his 2016 Randwick Guineas preparation.

“Robbie didn’t ride the colt that well in the Group 1 in Sydney but I am a pretty loyal person,” Forster said.

Too Good To Refuse has posted an impressive three wins and three minors through his ten start career to date.
