Tulsa has been a strong and consistent performer for Moroney through seven career starts so far and carries good form into the 2016 Randwick Guineas after savaging the line for third in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at Flemington a fortnight.

Confirming stable mate Tivaci in the field for the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday, Moroney told Racenet Tulsa will likely progress to staying events during the Sydney Autumn Carnival; underlining the 2016 Randwick Guineas as the best option for the gelding.

“There are a few reasons,” Moroney said.

“One, it (the Randwick Guineas) is worth $1 million.

“Number two, he’s drawn better and third, it gives us a runner in each race and they’re in similar ownership.

“Another thing is his future lies in Sydney after this run anyway and it gives us an opportunity to get him up there and get him settled.

“He’s not the easiest horse at times. We thought about it pretty hard and decided for all those reasons, we’ll head up there.”

Tulsa debuted to racing for third in an Echuca maiden over 1200m in March last year before immediately returning to the paddock with a view towards the Spring Carnival.

Resuming in August for a maiden race win in the Polytrack Plate (1100m) at Pakenham, Tulsa placed sixth in the talent-rich Listed Pin & Win Stakes (1400m) before running an impressive second in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) on September 26th.

Having returned to the paddock after finishing a credible eighth in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m), the son of Sebring resumed for eighth in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) on February 6th, in what was his only other competitive start prior to the CS Hayes Stakes.

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best 2016 Randwick Guineas odds, for which Tulsa can be taken at a quote of $21 for success or $4.10 to finish in the first three.
